  • His Excellency,The Governor of West Bengal, Patron

    Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi is an Indian Politician and the present Governor of West Bengal. He took oath as Governor of West Bengal on 24 July 2014. The Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP) is privileged to have Shri Tripathi as its valued Patron taking keen interest in IICP’s services.

  • Uma Ahmad, Chairperson

    A renowned educationist, Mrs Ahmad taught in Loreto House, Kolkata for many years since 1965. She is a founder member of the ‘Progressive Educational Techniques of Education’ better known as ‘The Teachers Centre’ at Loreto House, founded in 1974. She has authored books on innovative teaching and is involved in the boards of schools and organisations working for disadvantaged social groups. She was invited by the Govt. of West Bengal to serve as a Hon’ble member on the West Bengal Human Rights Commission from 1995 to 2000. She has been the Chairperson of llCP since 1986.

  • Dr Sudha Kaul, Vice Chairperson

    A pioneer in the education and rehabilitation of persons with disability, Dr Kaul received the Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2010 in recognition of her contributions to the disability sector. She was the Founder Principal, Centre for Special Education and later, the Executive Director of IICP until her retirement in 2010; she continues to be the Vice Chair of the organisation. She has a PhD in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) from Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) and has authored several publications on AAC. She was the first Asian woman to head ISAAC - International Society for AAC, Canada. Sudha Kaul was the Chair of the Committee formulated by the Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to draft a new law for disability and is a member of several committees related to disability at the Central and State level.

  • Manab Kumar Ray Chaudhuri, Hon’ble Treasurer

    A Chartered Accountant by profession, Mr Ray Chaudhuri has over forty years of professional experience. He worked at a board level for twenty-five years in the industry. Professional qualifications and memberships include M.Com, FCA, ACIS (UK), ACS. As Hon’ble Treasurer, IICP, Mr Ray Chaudhuri has been associated with IICP since 2002 and guides financial planning and management.

  • Ranu Banerjee, Hon. Secretary

    A teacher by profession, Mrs Banerjee graduated with English Honours from Calcutta University. She was awarded the Rotary International Scholarship that enabled her to complete a MS (Education) from the Division of Special Education, Purdue University, USA; she specialises in teaching children with severe to profound disability and management of challenging behaviours. She has been associated with IICP since 1975 and has held several posts in IICP including Principal, Centre for Special Education and Executive Secretary. She is a member of the Guest Faculty and has authored educational kits and books.

  • Meenakshi Atal, Member

    With almost thirty years of experience in school administration, Meenakshi Atal, MA, M Ed. is the Vice Principal ofThe Heritage, Kolkata’s first inclusive day boarding school. Mrs Atal has made significant contributions to mainstreaming children with disability. She has been associated with IICP for over two decades and is an integral part of the team developing appropriate teaching and learning material.

  • Dipak Banerjee, Member

    A Chartered Accountant by profession, Mr Banerjee worked for twenty-five years with Unilever. He retired as Chairman ofUnilever in Uganda. He has been associated with IICP for 10 years and is closely involved in the financial management of the organisation. He works closely with the team advising and guiding them on financial aspects of project management.

  • Pratiti Basu Sarkar, Member

    Ms Basu Sarkar’s association with IICP started as a volunteer in the Centre for Special Education, Kolkata from 1981 - 1984. She then received a Master’s degree in Education (with emphasis on Psychology of Learning) from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. She currently manages a Visual Arts Centre. Her interests are in art as an educational medium, and advocacy of persons with disabilities and those living in abject poverty.

  • Gautam Chakrabartti, Member

    A barrister by profession, Gautam Chakrabartti was educated at Presidency College, Kolkata and graduated with Economics Honours. He went to the UK to study law and was called to the Bar in 1954. After a year’s practice in the UK, Mr Chakrabartti joined the Calcutta High Court. He is a senior advocate of the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court.

  • Dr Zarine Dadina, Member

    A medical practitioner with MBBS and DCH degrees, Dr Dadina is a renowned paediatrician of Kolkata. She was a founder member and Senior Paediatric Consultant in the Assembly of God Hospital. She is the Head of Paediatrics and founder member of the Society for Children's Welfare. Dr Dadina has been associated with IICP since its inception.

  • Jeeja Ghosh, Member

    Activist for the rights of people with disabilities, Jeeja Ghosh has been involved in the advocacy movement for people with disabilities since I 99S and her special interest is women with disabilities. Jeeja is the Head of Advocacy and Disability Studies at IICP. She has a Master’s degree in Social Work from Delhi University and another Master's degree in Disability Studies s from Leeds University, UK.

  • Sujata Parekh, Member

    A social worker with a PG Diploma in Social Work from Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai and a MPhil Degree in Social Work from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, Mrs Parekh set up the Social Services Department when she joined IICP in 1976. She retired as the Head of Social Services and Jt Head of Community Based Rehabilitation but continues her involvement in training and direct service provision as a consultant. She is involved in a number of professional bodies and has been the Chairperson of Disability Activists’ Forum, West Bengal since 2005 as an IICP representative.

  • Dr Reena Sen, Member

    A founder member of IICP, Dr Sen started teaching in the Centre for Special Education in January 1975. She has held several posts in the organisation and her designation at present is Executive Director. In 1987 she founded Raksha, a nodal centre for disability in Kochi, Kerala. An alumnus of Miranda House, Delhi University, Reena Sen has a B Ed (Calcutta University) and a PG Diploma, Master’s Degree and PhD in Education (Dept of Psychology and Special Needs) from the Institute ofEducation, University of London.

  • S N Menon, Hon. Special Advisor

    Mr Menon is an alumnus of St Stephen’s College, Delhi. He is a member of the Indian Administrative Service and retired as Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industries. Mr Menon was former Jt Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare (now Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment) and has made significant contributions to the disability sector. Mr Menon has had a long association with IICP as an invitee on its Governing Body.

  • Harish M Parekh, Financial Advisor

    A tea taster and auctioneer by profession, Harish Parekh has spent over fifty years in the tea industry. He retired as the Chairman of J Thomas and Co Pvt Ltd, the world’s largest auction house. He has been a member of the Tea Board and is currently on the Board of several companies. Mr Parekh has been associated with IICP for over three decades.

  • Biswadip Gupta, Advisory Committee

    Currently the Jt Managing Director and CEO of JSW Bengal Steel Ltd, Mr Gupta is a Metallurgical Engineer and has an MBA in Marketing. He was the Managing Director of Vesuvius India Ltd and has extensively worked in Europe in the refractory making and application technology. At present, he is engaged in setting up a multi-crore 10 MTPA steel plant at Salboni, West Medinipur for JSW Group. He is a past President of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He is the immediate past Chairman of CII, Eastern Region.

  • Om Kaul, Advisory Committee

    A graduate of Rajasthan University, Om Kaul is a tea taster and auctioneer by profession. He is a founder member of IICP and has been associated with IICP ever since. He helped initiate and continues to mentor the organisation, particularly the Tea Packaging Training Unit.

  • Aniruddha Roy, Advisory Committee

    Mr Roy has a Physics (Honours) degree from Calcutta University and a B Tech Honours from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in Electrical Engineering. He worked with Eveready Industries India Ltd (formerly Union Carbide India Ltd) for thirty-eight years and retired as a whole time Director of the Company in December 2007. An active member of the CII, he was also the Chairman of the Eastern Region Quality and HR, Manufacturing, Technical Education and IR Sub Committees for many years and was on the jury board of Quality and HR Awards of Eastern Region, CII. An active alumni member of the Kolkata Chapter of IIT Kharagpur Alumni Association, he has been the President of the Chapter for three terms. Currently he is a Director/Adviser to several companies and a Governing Body member of Calcutta Institute of Engineering and Management.

  • Renu Saharia, Advisory Committee

    An insurance consultant by profession, Renu Saharia has been associated with IICP since 1977. She has a BA Honours degree in Home Science and a Diploma in Special Teaching from Minneapolis, USA. She is the Director and Founder of BLESSING, a school for mentally and physically challenged children in Dibrugarh, Assam. In her profession, she has been an award winner every year (for the past 10 years) in terms of business given to Tata AIG & LIC. She has been a member of the International Achievers’ Club ‘MDRT - Million Dollar Round Table’ for the past 5 years.
