An ‘Inter school cricket tournament’ was organized by ‘Akshar’ school on 6th and 7th February, 2017. This tournament aimed at the importance of inclusion and building friendship. The students of IICP had received an invitation to participate in this tournament.

On the morning of 6th February, six students from Centre for Special Education (CSE), the school unit of IICP, dressed in white, went to hit the cricket field at Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy ground at Vivekananda Park (NE). The ‘additional needs’ children were teamed up with students from other mainstream schools. Teams were formed on the field itself and there was excitement in the air!

For the first match, IICP was teamed up with La Martiniere for Boys’ school and they played against the team of students from Akshar school and Manovikas Kendra. In the next match, students from South City International School joined our team. The second match was played against the team of ‘Akshar’ and Calcutta International School. Each match consisted of 6 overs per innings.

Irrespective of the results of the matches, our children had a whale of a time playing cricket and having fun along with so many other children!
