IICP’s ‘Chhoti Si Asha’

On 14th August, IICP presented ‘Chhoti Si Asha’, an evening of music and readings in association with Taj Bengal, Kolkata. Smt. Jaya Bachchan, renowned actor and MP Rajya Sabha, graced the august occasion as the Chief Guest. In her address to the audience, she declared that she is an active participant and not just a supporter for the disability sector. She expressed her willingness to participate in IICP events in future. ‘Beyond Barriers’, a short film on IICP by Jayabrato Chatterjee, a noted writer and film maker and a very dear and old friend of IICP, was screened. The cultural programme was inaugurated by the IICP students’ band’s wonderful rendition of the song ‘Hum Ko Man Ki Shakti Dena’, from the Jaya Bachchan starrer film, ‘Guddi’. It was followed by a vibrant performance by vocalist Soumyojit Das and talented pianist Sourendro Mallick. Shahana Chatterjee and Mir Afsar Ali read out excerpts from classical poetry, that complemented the theme for the evening. “Chhoti Si Asha” was conceived and directed by Jayabrato Chatterje.The event was followed by a sumptuous dinner.
