A. Center For Special Education (CSE)

A school primarily for students with Neuro-motor disabilities, it also includes a small number of economically disadvantaged, typically developing children. CSE has a wide ranging curriculum to meet the diverse needs of its students- physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, augmentative and alternative communication, hydrotherapy, co-curricular activities, advocacy training, personal and social skills, parent support and counselling for students. Students participate in a range of programmes in and outside school – concerts, fests, exhibitions, environmental awareness campaigns and visits.

B. Open School Unit

The Open School Unit enrols students above 18 years from a wide spectrum of society for the secondary course of the National Institute for Open Schooling (NIOS) and the West Bengal Council of Rabindra Open Schooling or State Open School (SOS). NIOS has given IICP a SAIED accreditation (Specially Accredited Institute for the Educationally Disadvantaged) meant for students with a disability certificate. Students are required to pass in any four subjects and can write their papers in any Indian language. SOS has given an inclusive accreditation which allows home makers, entrepreneurs and school drop outs to register for formal education.

C. Jugnu Playschool

A playschool and nutrition programme for underprivileged children, the Jugnu programme runs on weekday afternoons in the premises of the Centre for Special Education. Activities include early learning, music, movement, songs, recitation and outdoor play. Emphasis is laid on basic health and hygiene. All services including nutritive snacks are provided completely free of cost.

Computer Sessions

Computers are used for teaching communication and as writing tools. Some students have Computer Studies as a subject.

Therapy

Physiotherapy is a fundamental aspect of any programme for children with cerebral palsy. We also offer Occupational AAC and Speech Therapy.

Jugnu Shishu Vihar Kendra (Play School)

Advocacy & counselling

Regular counselling sessions are held by qualified social workers.

Hydrotherapy

All students are given the opportunity to use the hydrotherapy facilities under the careful guidance of trained therapists.

National Institute of Open Schooling and Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya

The Open School Unit enrols students from a wide spectrum of society for the secondary course of the National Institute for Open Schooling (NIOS) and the West Bengal Council of Rabindra Open Schooling or State Open School (SOS).
